The custom collage maker is the feature that makes the whole thing possible. Users can create any shape by utilizing the brush and then save it as a preset. Define how the collage should look like

There is a preview feature to help users check if the shape of the collage has met their demands. Things that you can control over the collage include the size, number of photos included to create the shape, photo spacing, randomness level and shadow.

Additionally, the collage background can also be customized. Users can pick a solid color, transparent or a picture for the background. Customizable border can be added as well. The appearance customization preview helps you to achieve the best look.

Text Collage

If you’re interested in generating a text collage, the text collage maker feature enables you to select font type, size, style as well as define the text spacing and whether the text should be converted to a vertical or horizontal text collage. You can also insert symbols.

Add photos from computer or web

Photos that will be used to create the collage can be added from web and your computer. If you want to use photos from web, click “Add Photos from Web” from the file menu. This will display a mini window. Enter the urls of the photos or urls of the webpages that contain photos one per line into the box. Hit the “Add” button when you’re done.

Shape Collage free version has all of the features mentioned above. A small watermark is added to the output but it won’t disturb the beauty look. Another difference with the pro version is the capability of saving the created picture collage as PSD so users can edit it with Adobe Photoshop or GIMP. The free one lets you save the output as PNG or JPEG image only.

Shape Collage works with Windows 7, Vista, XP, Mac OS X, and Linux. Note that you must install Java to be able to run the program. Shape Collage can be downloaded from the developer’s website.

SmillaEnlarger

SmillaEnlarger is a portable image enlarger application for Windows that has been mentioned wildly by various tech blogs. The enlarged and original image are displayed side-by-side. You can pick which area of the image that you want to enlarge by dragging the zoomed area to the position. You can also enlarge the zoomed area if you want to enlarge a larger area by manually entering a new width and height value or moving the zoom slider.

Five additional tools are available to fine tune the image you enlarge: Sharpness, Flatness, PreSharpen, Dithering, DeNoise. Click “Preview” to view how the enlarged image will look like and click “Calculate” to start the enlargement process.

I will add another image enlarger here once I find one. Some of them will be free like Smilla Enlarger and some are shareware.

To cut a photo losslessly, simply open a JPEG image, drag a selection for the area that you want to cut, right-click within the area and select “Save Frame As”. Additionally, the application also lets you losslessly flip, rotate and transpose JPEG pictures. The obvious drawback from this tool, unfortunately, is that it cannot cut photos in batch. If you want to cut several photos, you’ll need to open and process them one by one. Still, it is a nifty, simple application that you should use if you want to losslessly cut your photos.
